Famous actress Sara Gilbert has chosen to officially end her marriage to music star Linda Perry. Details about their separation and divorce have been shared.
After years of being married, “Roseanne” star Sara Gilbert, 49, is officially calling it quits with “What’s Up” artist Linda Perry, 59.
Legal documents acquired by a news outlet show that Sara filed to make her separation from Linda permanent. This comes years after the Primetime Emmy nominee filed for legal separation.
Sadly, with no chance for reconciliation, the same outlet reports that the former couple’s divorce case was filed at Stanley Mosk Courthouse two days ago (April 23, 2024).
The category the case is under is one titled “Dissolution with Minor Children (General Jurisdiction).” Having originally filed for separation in December 2019 after reaching nearly six years of marriage, Sara and Linda cited “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the separation.
Another known detail about Sara’s filing includes the fact that reportedly, the “Atypical” talent has made it clear to the court that she has not sought spousal support for herself or Linda.
Linda and Sara got married in 2014 and welcomed a son named Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry, whom Sara gave birth to, the following year (2015).
Rhodes was born on February 28, 2015, and his birth was announced on a past episode of “The Talk.” At this time, Sara was still a co-host on the show along with TV personality, Julie Chen.
“Our very own Sara and her wife Linda Perry are the proud parents of a new baby boy,” Julie previously announced.
Although this was the first child the former pair had welcomed together, they were already parents to Sara’s two children, Levi and Sawyer Gilbert-Adler. Levi and Sawyer were born from Sara’s previous relationship with her ex-partner Allison Adler.
As a juxtaposition to her typically private nature and demure presence, Sara opened up about her and Linda’s experience becoming parents. She shared her thoughts at the Family Equality Council’s 2016 LA Impact Awards where she and Linda were being honored.
“In my life, I was lucky enough to have two children before I met Linda and then we became a family. And I knew when we got married that Linda needed a baby, that even though we were a family—all of us, the four of us—she needed to follow a little soul from day one,” Sara previously disclosed.
“The Conners” actress then went on to speak about the close bond Linda and their son, Rhodes, forged after he was born.
“They are so madly in love, it’s amazing, and I look at their relationship and I look at these children and I just think, ‘How is it possible that some people are denied that?’ It’s just unbelievable,” Sara continued.
Two years after her speech in which she divulged some details about Linda and their family, Sara sat down for an interview with a media outlet. Here she spoke about becoming more comfortable with sharing information about her personal life.
“My first instinct will be like, ‘No, I don’t want to do that,’ I’ve learned that it’s better to push against that and just try it,” she explained.
Ending her statement, Sara added, “If it stays no, that’s fine. But a lot of times as you start engaging in a process you’re like, ‘Oh, actually this is fun.'”
Although Sara Gilbert may not be going through a “fun” process now, having recently filed to make her and Linda’s legal separation permanent, the two are doing their best to navigate their new normal.
According to sources, far from harboring hate or animosity for each other, Sara and Linda have been focused on keeping things amicable for their sake and that of their family.
With children who are still minors, Sara and the “No Place Like Home” singer will still be involved in each other’s lives after their divorce is settled. They will still have contact with each other, even if it is only to foster a co-parenting relationship.
